Mosyle Manager and iOS 11: New features

iOS 11 made a lot of improvements possible for remotely managing AirPrint printers. Now, you can use Mosyle Manager MDM to configure a custom port and define whether TLS is required. Create the profile by navigating to Management > AirPrint.

Check out all the new AirPrint restrictions available with iOS 11:

To apply these restrictions, navigate to Management > Restrictions, and select the desired restrictions.

Apple Classroom App

iOS 11 also introduces the following new Classroom restrictions that can be applied using the Restrictions management profile. All of them require Supervision:

VPN Connection

Mosyle Manager is fully prepared to help you set up the new VPN restriction available with iOS 11. Now, school admins can disable users from creating their own VPN configurations.

To control this type of network connection in iOS 11, navigate to Management > Restrictions.

We’ve improved our Wallpaper management profile to make it easier to identify your school’s iPads. If you would like to upload an image as wallpaper, you are able to use a personalized Lock Screen Message. This message may contain variables such as current device name, student’s full name, User ID, or even the Managed Apple ID.

You can also choose the Wallpaper ID option within Mosyle Manager, creating a wallpaper image with the selected variables such as student name, Managed Apple ID, and more. Select the background color and text color, as well as the variables desired. Both wallpaper types can be scheduled. The profile will be applied every day, according to the time you set it up.

DNS proxy extension

iOS 11 also supports a new extension using which apps can provide a DNS proxy. Using Mosyle Manager, you can create a DNS management profile and configure the bundle ID of the extension, and also set up any other custom configuration.
