Apple has presented the new version of its mobile operating system – the iOS 11 – to be released
September 19, and Mosyle Manager is ready to meet all mobile device management (MDM) needs, right
now. In fact, we’re already configured and updated for iOS 11, which makes your favorite MDM
ready to go from day one.
An Apple device management solution for education, Mosyle Manager offers major improvements and brand new features to help you get the most of managing, monitoring, and protecting iPads in your school. In addition to all the new iOS 11 capabilities, Mosyle Manager is now also fully integrated with ScreenGuide Parental Control App – making it the perfect solution for managing devices at school and at home.
Read on to learn more about how Mosyle Manager works with new iOS 11 capabilities, and how its integration with ScreenGuide Parental Control App can enhance iOS 11’s management features.
Be sure your iPads support iOS 11:
iOS 11 made a lot of improvements possible for remotely managing AirPrint printers. Now, you can use Mosyle Manager MDM to configure a custom port and define whether TLS is required. Create the profile by navigating to Management > AirPrint.
Check out all the new AirPrint restrictions available with iOS 11:
To apply these restrictions, navigate to Management > Restrictions, and select the desired restrictions.
Mosyle Manager is fully prepared to help you set up the new VPN restriction available with iOS 11. Now, school admins can disable users from creating their own VPN configurations.
To control this type of network connection in iOS 11, navigate to Management > Restrictions.
We’ve improved our Wallpaper management profile to make it easier to identify your school’s iPads. If you would like to upload an image as wallpaper, you are able to use a personalized Lock Screen Message. This message may contain variables such as current device name, student’s full name, User ID, or even the Managed Apple ID.
You can also choose the Wallpaper ID option within Mosyle Manager, creating a wallpaper image with the selected variables such as student name, Managed Apple ID, and more. Select the background color and text color, as well as the variables desired. Both wallpaper types can be scheduled. The profile will be applied every day, according to the time you set it up.
DNS proxy extension
iOS 11 also supports a new extension using which apps can provide a DNS proxy. Using Mosyle Manager, you can create a DNS management profile and configure the bundle ID of the extension, and also set up any other custom configuration.
Don’t stop with simply monitoring devices at school! Also powered by Mosyle
Corporation, ScreenGuide Parental Control App is fully integrated with Mosyle Manager.
The integration, launched in this new update, helps parents by allowing them to manage
their children's devices after school and at home. With Mosyle Manager and iOS 11
working at the school level, and ScreenGuide working at home in collaboration with
both, devices will be safe every second, day, and week.
ScreenGuide Parental Control App empowers parents to get closer to their children's digital experience, protect them from inappropriate content, control screen overexposure at home, and understand what their children are doing with mobile devices.
Mosyle admins can set up ScreenGuide access for parents by configuring the parental control management profile on Mosyle Manager Preferences. Just define the days and times parents are able to manage the devices, and select which students the profile will be assigned to.
You can download the parent instructions and share them with other parents to make it easier for them to connect their kids’ device(s) to their ScreenGuide account. You can spread the word of ScreenGuide by sharing this article with parents! Within Mosyle Manager, you also can download the parent instructions and share them with parents to make it easier for them to connect their kids’ device(s) to their ScreenGuide account.
